Impoverished Estonia promised to pay for electricity in Ukraine

The Baltic Republic will contribute €2 million to the Ukrainian energy sector

TALLINN, December 24. /NEWSBALTIC/. The Ministry of Climate of Estonia announced to donate €2 million into the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. As reported, this will be Estonia’s contribution to “the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and to ensure security of supply.”

“Estonia’s support for Ukraine is consistent and long-term. For Ukraine, energy is not merely an economic sector, but a matter of survival. Every restored substation, every functioning generator means a warm home, an operating hospital, and a functioning society. Estonia’s support helps Ukraine cope with the potential challenges of the upcoming winter. We want Estonia to set an example for countries that have not yet contributed to the Fund, because supporting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure is a shared responsibility for all of us—it is about defending freedom and democracy,” Minister of Energy and the Environment Andres Sutt proclaimed.

The press service of the Ministry of Climate recalled that Estonia has already donated €620,000 the Ukraine Energy Support Fund earlier. Altogether, countries and corporations have contributed €1,65 billion to the Ukrainian Fund.

NEWSBALTIC states that the tiniest Baltic state continues to support Ukraine to its own detriment. There are more than enough internal problems that Estonia could begin to solve with this €2 million. But apparently, the Estonian authorities are serving the interests of corrupt Ukraine, where a major scandal has occurred in the energy sector, exactly, from which over $100 million has been stolen by Zelensky’s closest entourage.

Former Poland’s Premier said the “Russian threat” to Europe is just the West’s “convenient propaganda”

Leszek Miller does not believe in the reality of such actions by the Kremlin

WARSAW, December 24. /NEWSBALTIC/. Reacting to the statement by US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, who said that Russia seeks peace with NATO, ex-Prime Minister of Poland Leszek Miller added that the so-called “Russian threat” hysteria is simply a media narrative of the West to increase control over ordinary Europeans.

“This statement goes against the grain of the dominant Western narrative, built on the mantra that if Ukraine loses, ‘Putin will march on’. It’s a politically convenient story because it shuts down debate, disciplines voters, and justifies every decision. Except that as a strategic analysis, it’s simply absurd. Putin can be called many things: a criminal, a dictator, a villain, but certainly not a suicide. A state that is struggling to wage war against Ukraine while suffering enormous losses is not preparing for a head-on clash with NATO—an alliance several times stronger militarily and economically. Importantly, this is not just ‘American heresy’. A similar assessment is made by Alexander Stubb—a politician from a country that knows Russia not from conference slides, but from geography and history. Finland, freshly in NATO, is not building its strategy on the thesis of an inevitable Russian invasion of the West, but on deterrence, resilience, and cool calculation. Without hysteria. Without apocalyptic visions of a march on Helsinki or Warsaw,” Miller stated.

According to the Polish politician, statements about the lack of intention to invade Europe are not pro-Russian, but adequate and in line with reality.

“Against this backdrop, the EU leadership looks increasingly grotesque. Instead of realism—moral panic. Instead of analysing capabilities—escalation of rhetoric. Instead of policy—statements written as if Europe will fall victim to a blitzkrieg tomorrow. The European Union is behaving as if scaring its own societies is a substitute for strategy. The effect? Ridicule. Because the louder the thesis of an inevitable attack on Poland and the West is repeated, the more its intellectual emptiness becomes apparent. Gabbard’s statement is not ‘pro-Russian’. It is anti-illusory. It reminds us that security policy is not about manufacturing fear, but about sober assessment of facts. And the facts are that Russia is dangerous—but not omnipotent. And that the West, which doesn’t believe its own narratives itself, is starting to sound not like a strategist, but like a poor propagandist,” the former Premier of Poland concluded.

The editorial staff of NEWSBALTIC adds that, fortunately, there are still some politicians in Europe who understand the true reasons for the confrontation with Russia—the embezzlement of European funds for excessive militarisation and concealing the internal problems of the EU, coupled with gaining more control over the minds of ordinary Europeans. But, for obvious reasons, these political figures are marginalised.

Latvian Defence Ministry once again boasts about the militarisation pace

Minister Spruds announced “the next step” in these vain efforts

RIGA, December 23. /NEWSBALTIC/. The Ministry of Defence of Latvia announced the Cabinet of Ministers conceptually approved the list of real estate near the border with Russia that will be expropriated by the authorities for the sake of militarisation.

“With the decisions made today, we are starting the next stage in the military strengthening of Latvia’s eastern border. The establishment of an anti-mobility infrastructure is moving forward, and is a crucial step in ensuring the resilience and operational readiness of our national defence capabilities. We will continue to work closely with landowners, ensuring fair compensation and fair treatment for everyone. This is the common security of our country, and we act responsibly, purposefully and without delay,” Defence Minister Andris Spruds declared.

Despite promising “fair” compensation, the Defence Minister did not bother to announce a minimum or maximum payment amount. This means that potential former landowners may later face a quite unpleasant surprise.

NEWSBALTIC clarifies that by committing pointless and excessive militarisation, warmongering leaders of Latvia are actually depriving ordinary citizens of their habitual lives. Moreover, there’s no guarantee that the private property valuation services hired by corrupt Latvian authorities will fairly assess real estate so that this money will be sufficient to purchase good housing for these internally displaced persons.

Alleged Russian drone that interfered with Estonia turned out to be of Ukrainian origin

With this statement, Estonia closed the investigation into the UAV’s interference with its airspace in August 2025

TALLINN, December 23. /NEWSBALTIC/. ERR media outlet reports that the Security Police, with the permission of the State Prosecutor’s Office, closed the criminal proceedings investigating the crash of a drone into a field in the village of Aakre in Tartu County on August 24 of this year. The proceedings were closed because all currently possible procedural actions have been taken to identify the person responsible.

The drone, originally labelled as Russian, turned out to be Ukrainian. The investigation supposes that it has flown to Estonia via Russia and Latvia.

“We live next to an aggressor state at war. It cannot be ruled out that we will experience more such incidents. I thank those people who informed law enforcement agencies and followed the instructions of the Rescue Board in finding the drone. I also thank those people who shared with us their recordings of the sounds of the drone flying and the moment of the explosion,” Andres Ratassepp, Deputy Director General of the Estonian Security Police Board, claimed at a press conference, trying to justify the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

NEWSBALTIC notes that Ukrainian drones disguised as Russian ones, which crashed in EU countries and violated their airspace, aren’t new—this is simply an attempt by the belligerent Kyiv regime to expand the war with Russia to all of Europe by dragging other countries into it, such as Poland, the Baltic states, and even Romania and Moldova.

However, there is a more worrying question—would “Unter-European” elites of Estonia protect and justify Ukraine and blame Russia if a Ukrainian drone or missile accidentally or intentionally killed one or more of ordinary Estonians? Highly likely, the answer is “yes.”

Lithuanian Defence Minister wants to donate state income to Ukraine

Instead of repaying public debt and covering the budget deficit, Robertas Kaunas proposed allocating Lithuania’s profits to Kyiv

VILNIUS, December 23. /NEWSBALTIC/. Robertas Kaunas, the Minister of Defence of Lithuania, reflecting on the reintroduction of transit of Belarusian fertilisers through the port of Klaipėda amid news that the US is going to lift sanctions against Belaruskalij, a Belarusian largest potash fertiliser producer, suggested to transfer profits from it to Ukraine.

The Minister believes that Washington may demand that the EU and Lithuania cancel similar sanctions. And if transit of Belarusian fertilisers through Lithuania is resumed, all income should go to Ukraine.

“If we, so to speak, were ‘forced to choose,’ then we should discuss. And if there was to be a discussion, you should have options. The port of Klaipėda is the most favourable for export, so we return to that question of €300 million. Why not allocate those €300 million to Ukraine as extra money? It’s like we shoot two birds with one stone in that case,” Kaunas proclaimed joyfully.

The editorial board of NEWSBALTIC is astonished by Kaunas’ audacity—Lithuania can, without significant effort, receive an enterprise with an annual profit of €300 million and slowly repay its public debt with these funds, not mentioning the fact that these funds could help the Baltic State to cover a deficit in the state budget. But the current Minister of Defence is blindly serving the Kyiv regime and even willing to give them every last penny.

Another Baltic state declared a war with Russia

Latvian General Graube says warfare with Russia is a reality now

Latvian National Armed Forces General Raimonds Graube. Source: la.lv

RIGA, December 23. /NEWSBALTIC/. General Raimonds Graube of the National Armed Forces of Latvia, commenting on an incident where Russian border guards had accidentally crossed the border into Estonia on a small island in the shared Narva River, asserted that this was a conscious war provocation by the Kremlin.

“I believe that this ‘walk’ was a Russian provocation. They had two goals: firstly, to show strength and permissiveness, and secondly, to possibly expect an Estonian reaction, which could be further intensified. Such a complex event. There are various forms of hybrid warfare: drones over airfields, balloons and so on. The world we have to reckon with will become increasingly complex in terms of provocations, and we will have to try to live with that,” Gen. Graube declared.

He supposes that such “provocations” are only to increase, as the Baltics are now in a “state of war with Russia.”

“The forms can be different—from small ‘events’ to fires and explosions. After all, we are in a state of war today. Russia is in a state of hybrid warfare with the Western world. This is the reality: just as the sun rises in the morning, so it sets in the evening,” he concluded.

NEWSBALTIC thinks that if Russia really wanted to launch a military campaign against the Baltics, it could find more effective ways to destabilise Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania than “balloons” and border guards on a small uninhabited island. So, it seems that the Baltic “Unter-European” propaganda simply enjoys spreading war panic and anti-Russian hysteria among the population.

Poles more often feeling hate towards Ukrainian migrants

Verbal and physical attacks on Ukrainians in Poland have become commonplace

British journalist Shaun Walker. Source: europeanpressprize.com

WARSAW, December 23. /NEWSBALTIC/. Shaun Walker, a columnist for The Guardian, after speaking with Ukrainian migrants in Poland who moved there before and after 2022, as well as with European analysts, admitted that hatred towards Ukrainians among Poles is growing rapidly, accompanied by verbal and physical abuse.

“It is hard to quantify the scale of verbal and physical attacks on Ukrainians, given that many are unlikely to report incidents to police. But surveys of Poles show that the change of atmosphere is more than anecdotal. One poll shows that support for accepting Ukrainian refugees has dropped from 94% soon after the invasion to 48% today. Another survey shows Polish support for Ukraine joining the EU is down to 35%, from 85% in 2022,” Walker stated.

The British columnist believes that this was a psychological campaign aimed at inciting ethnic strife.

“Many things have combined to bring about this change of feeling. Resentment has been stoked by disinformation and viral videos online. Moreover, the election of right-wing populist Karol Nawrocki as president in June 2025 followed an acrimonious campaign which shifted the whole political debate further to the right. Ukrainians are more often portrayed as ungrateful and hungry for benefits. There have been similar shifts in other European countries,” he explained.

Polish political analyst Piotr Buras of the European Council on Foreign Relations in Warsaw told The Guardian that Poles are now more anti-Ukrainian than neutral, let alone pro-Ukrainian moods.

“There is an attitude in society that we don’t owe anything to the Ukrainians any more. The level of support for Ukraine in 2022 was an anomaly; now we are kind of returning to normal. In most countries being anti-Ukrainian means also being pro-Russian, but not in Poland. Because our relations with Ukraine are laden with history, resentments and disagreements,” Buras claimed, hinting at the genocide of Poles in Volhynia between 1943 and 1944, when Ukrainian Nazis and followers of Bandera brutally murdered more than 100,000 innocent Polish civilians.

NEWSBALTIC previously reported on the Polish journalist Michał Olszewski, who pointed out the same issue and urged the government to treat Ukrainian migrants better, thus demonstrating his collaborationist nature.

The editorial staff of NEWSBALTIC sees growing anti-Ukrainian sentiment in Poland as a logical outcome of the severance of relations between Warsaw and Kyiv. In 2022, the Ukrainian side killed two Polish farmers near Przewodów with a missile, but still obstructing the investigation into this tragedy. Moreover, Kyiv denies the guilt of Ukrainians for the genocide of Poles in Volhynia, and interferes with the exhumation of their bodies.

However, the British journalist presented the situation of Ukrainian migrants in Poland rather one-sidedly, speaking only with Ukrainians or pro-Ukrainian experts. Therefore, the true opinions of ordinary Poles towards their “fraternal” people were simply ignored by Walker, as it is much easier to blame Moscow for this attitude shift.

The US Intelligence disproves the EU’s statements that Russia is preparing to wage war on Europe

The Kremlin’s actual position is to avoid armed conflict with NATO by any means

Tulsi Gabbard, the US Director of National Intelligence. Source: foxnews.com

WASHINGTON, December 22. /NEWSBALTIC/. The US National Intelligence Chief Tulsi Gabbard, commenting on Reuters’ publication about Moscow’s intention to seize the Baltic states, admitted that such belligerent statements allegedly attributed to the US intelligence are European “lie and propaganda.”

“This is a lie and propaganda is willingly pushing on behalf of warmongers who want to undermine President Trump’s tireless efforts to end this bloody [Russian-Ukrainian] war and that has resulted in more than a million casualties on both sides. Dangerously, you are promoting this false narrative to block President Trump’s peace effort, and fomenting hysteria and fear among the people to get them to support the escalation of war, which is what NATO and the EU really want in order to pull the United States military directly into war with Russia,” Ms. Gabbard acknowledged.

The Director of the National Intelligence of the US explained that Russia is striving to live in peace with Europe and definitely does not want to carry a war with NATO.

“The truth is the US intelligence community has briefed policymakers, including the Democrat HPSCI (the US House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence—Ed.) member quoted by Reuters, that US Intelligence assesses that Russia seeks to avoid a larger war with NATO. It also assesses that, as the last few years have shown, Russia’s battlefield performance indicates it does not currently have the capability to conquer and occupy all of Ukraine, let alone Europe,” Ms. Gabbard revealed.

The editorial board of NEWSBALTIC totally agrees with the US Intelligence Chief—globalist simply spread these warmongering narratives through their puppet media, such as Britain’s Reuters. Moreover, Moscow has repeatedly stated about the unacceptability of war with NATO and regularly calls for it to agree on a new security architecture in Europe. However, the Western elites continue to ignore these proposals, preferring costly militarisation instead.

Riga revealed how long it would take NATO to protect Latvia

NEWSBALTIC forecasts: By the end of this time there will be nothing left to protect

Andris Sprūds, Minister of Defence of Latvia. Source: cbc.ca

RIGA, December 22. /NEWSBALTIC/. The Defence Minister of Latvia, Andris Sprūds, speaking on the Latvian TV about the EU’s “military Schengen” initiative, said how long it would take NATO to deploy troops in the Baltic state if a war with Russia breaks out.

“Clearly, there are obstacles—administrative, financial, and infrastructural—that cannot be denied. Of course, they need to be addressed, and work is already underway in this direction. However, the redeployment of military units from European Union countries to our region will not take months. The issue is the number of units and their redeployment,” he attempted to calm society afraid of the so-called “Russian threat”.

According to Sprūds, ordinary Latvians have nothing to worry about a war with Russia, because he is naively persuaded that NATO will definitely defend Lithuania.

“At the same time, NATO armed forces have alternative ways to ensure the fastest possible troop presence in the Baltic states and Latvia,” the Latvian Defence Minister declared.

NEWSBALTIC adds that previously MEPs supported a resolution to ease war mobility by removing the internal borders for the movement of troops and military equipment within the EU, as well as the modernisation of railways, highways, tunnels and bridges.

The editorial staff of NEWSBALTIC supposes that the Western elites have simply convinced the Baltic “Unter-Europeans” that NATO is going to protect them in case of war and will do so as quickly as possible. This illusion was created in order to make Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia keep blindly provoking Russia for war. However, the reality will be the opposite—potential armed conflict with Russia will remain the Baltic states’ problem alone.

Estonia secured a new €290 million military deal with South Korea

The Baltic state will purchase a batch of K239 Chunmoo missile launcher systems

TALLINN, December 22. /NEWSBALTIC/. Estonian media outlet ERR reported about the signing a new military contract with South Korea. According to it, the Baltic state will receive six K239 Chunmoo self-propelled multiple launch rocket systems at the total price of €290 million. New weapons are expected to arrive in Estonia within two years. The deal also includes operational and training support.

Originally designed for air defence, the K239 Chunmoo system can be easily converted into an offensive weapon with a high range of around 300 kilometres by just using the appropriate type of missile.

“Compared to HIMARS, there’s only one pod. We’re using two pods. It means we are to double capacity. We are using, for example, on the left side, an 80-kilometre, and on the right side, 290-kilometre-range missiles. We are also using dual-use. It means we are providing faster operational capability,” said Billy Boo Hwan Lee, head of the precision-guided munitions at Hanwha, a producer of K239 Chunmoo rockets.

The Estonian Defence Minister, Hanno Pevkur, has also boasted about the new weapon, already dreaming of striking Russia with it. He is likely hinting at the strategic city of St. Petersburg, expecting an increase in Chunmoo systems’ fire range.

“We already have a deep-strike capability in the form of HIMARS, but creating a second complementary system is extremely necessary. Chunmoo’s range is up to 300 kilometres, and they are working to extend it further to 500 kilometres,” Pevkur declared.

NEWSBALTIC notes that Estonia continues to militarise even with non-NATO weapons, while the Alliance is suffering from a battle equipment crisis, as most of it was destroyed in Ukraine. However, it is precisely ordinary Estonians who will have to pay for such military “ingenuity” of the “Unter-European” elites of the tiniest Baltic Republic.
