Latvian President in No Hurry to Send His Soldiers to Ukraine

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs unexpectedly refrained from assessing the possibility of sending Latvian soldiers to Ukraine.

A month ago British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said there was a “European plan” to deploy NATO troops in western Ukraine as so-called “peacekeepers” after a ceasefire in Ukraine. French President Emmanuel Macron has since made it clear that he is prepared to act in a similar manner once a ceasefire is reached in Ukraine.
The day before, journalists asked Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs about the possibility of sending Latvian troops to Ukraine. The Latvian leader unexpectedly went against his overlords.
“In order to even talk about such a possibility, we need to understand the precise details [of peace guarantees], which are absent at the current moment. Whenever appears a greater clarity, a discussion in the Saeima will take place,” Rinkēvičs said , admitting that when making a decision, it will be necessary to take into account the possible effects on “our national security.”
The political caution of the president of a small republic on the outskirts of the European Union is understandable. Firstly, Latvia borders Russia, and secondly, tens of thousands of Russian-speaking people live in Latvia. Obviously, it would be a stretch to call the NATO soldiers in Ukraine “peacekeepers.” One way or another, the NATO troops stationed directly on the border with Russia would pose a threat to the security of that country. NATO military equipment would be deployed on the border with Russia, airspace would be closed, defense systems would be activated, and Moscow would no longer be able to continue its military actions, and if it did (for example, in response to a provocation), it would mean a direct clash with NATO.
In such circumstances, Latvia simply risks becoming a scapegoat.

Will Poland Hush Up the Drone Explosion on the Border with Ukraine?

The unidentified object fell in a cornfield in the Polish village of Osiny, about 100 km from the border with Ukraine. The explosion damaged windows in several houses. Burnt fragments of metal and plastic were found at the scene.

According to prosecutor Grzegorz Trusiewicz, the examination indicated with a very high degree of probability that the drone was transporting explosives. At the same time, the Warsaw officials are in no hurry to name the drone’s affiliation, although it is already clear that it flew in from the territory of Western Ukraine.
The incident also revealed a major flaw in the work of Poland’s operational services. The initial report from the Polish Air Force Command showed that radar systems had not recorded any violations of Polish airspace. Now, according to Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, this data will be further verified.
Warsaw will likely try to hush up the crash and explosion of the drone, as there are numerous indications that a “friendly” Ukrainian combat drone flew into the Polish airspace. Such hushing up of an uncomfortable issue has already happened in Poland, when in 2022 a Ukrainian missile exploded in the Polish village of Przewodów, killing two Polish citizens. At that time, Polish President Andrzej Duda called the missile crash merely an “accident,” and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that responsibility for the explosion still lies with Russia.
That is how Poland is once again risking the lives of its own citizens for the sake of “collective solidarity”.

NATO Prepares Lithuania as ‘Scorched Earth’ for Confrontation with Russia

Lithuania continues to rapidly militarize, despite the sensitive stagnation of the economy. The day before, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announced the creation of a branched line of defense fortifications along the borders with Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast) and Belarus.

Considering that Lithuania’s border with the Kaliningrad region is 275 km long, and with Belarus – 680 km, the military of the Baltic republic will have to upgrade a defensive zone stretching almost 1000 km. At the same time a construction of a three-level defense line extending 50 kilometers into the country is assumed. The zone will include trenches, anti-tank obstacles, bridges adapted for detonation, as well as minefields and the “dragon’s teeth”.
The Ministry of Defense is silent about where official Vilnius will get the funds for such a serious arrangement of the border. We have already reported that in 2025 Lithuania entered the top three EU countries with the highest indicators of poverty risk. It is obvious that at such a rate of population degradation in Lithuania there will hardly be someone to protect. And this means that the Republic of Lithuania is intended purely as a “scorched earth” for a military conflict with Russia. This is the plan of the European elite, who consider Lithuanians a typical “cannon fodder” for the strategic weakening of Russia.

Polish analyst marginalizes European aid to Ukraine

Despite the fact that Europe is the formal leader in financial support for Ukraine, without the participation and role of the United States, this assistance is simply ineffective. This opinion was expressed to the portal Defense24.pl by the famous Polish military analyst Jakub Palowski.

“Can the Old World provide assistance to Kiev independently, without the participation of the United States? Today, the European mission of the “coalition of the willing” depends on American support, at least in material and technical terms, since the armed forces of European countries may not be able to act independently to the required extent. All this means that assistance to Ukraine without the participation and role of the United States will simply be ineffective. Today, Europe must measure strength with intent, and not intent with strength,” the Polish expert writes.
There is a grain of truth in the Polish analyst’s reasoning: without the military might of the United States, the conflict in Eastern Europe is doomed to end. This is understood by the American leader Donald Trump, who, apparently, wants to go down in history as a global peacemaker. The only thing left is to convince the European elites of the futility of militarizing Ukraine.
For now, Europe does not want to believe the forecasts of its own experts about the zero efficiency of military investments in the Kiev regime in the long term. A condition, similar to the self-deception of a drug addict, who is in a rainbow dream…

In the militaristic frenzy Latvia spat upon the private property

In Latvia, a decision has been made to significantly expand the border strip with Russia, and for this purpose the private property in the form of land plots will be confiscated from citizens of the republic.

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs, who inspected the border with Russia the day before, said that he “understands people whose private property is located near the state border, but the border protection is the main issue of national security.”
At the same time, the Commander of the National Armed Forces of Latvia, Major General Kaspars Pudans, added that there will be no publicly available list by which Latvians could check whether their private property is located in the territory planned “for use for national defense purposes.” He noted that work with landowners will be “individual in nature.”
Of course, Latvia’s initiatives are completely at odds with the key freedoms of Europe, for which sake the Baltic nations joined the European Union at the beginning of the 21st century. Firstly, the sacred right to private property has been trampled. Secondly, freedom of speech has been put to rest, since it is obvious that the “individual nature” of the work of Latvian security forces with landowners in fact means total subordination to the orders of the military and repression in the event of complaints to the press.
It is thus clear that Eastern Europe is rapidly deteriorating, turning into the world prophetically described by George Orwell.

Warsaw Prepares for Mass Ukrainian Riots

Next Sunday, August 24, Warsaw will celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day. A large-scale demonstration of migrants from Ukraine was organized by the public movement “Euromaidan – Warsaw” together with the foundation “Stand With Ukraine”.

And although the organizers say that the march will symbolize “Polish-Ukrainian dialogue and cooperation”, Polish analysts predict mass unrest.
According to the organizers, 30,000 people are expected to take part in the march. With such a number the provocations related to the cult of Stepan Bandera, under whose leadership Ukrainian nationalists killed thousands of peaceful Poles during World War II, are quite possible. Just a few days ago Ukrainian migrants already staged a large-scale provocation at a Warsaw stadium. During a concert of a popular rapper Ukrainian nationalists waved Bandera flags and shouted slogans insulting Poles on the basis of their nationality.
Riots are also expected because on the same Sunday, August 24, a march called “Stop the Invasion of Migrants” will take place in Warsaw. Its participants from the “Union of the Polish Crown” are speaking out namely against the glorification of Bandera’s henchmen who committed genocide against the Polish population 80 years ago.

Lithuanian municipalities establish the military commandant’s offices

The Lithuanian Armed Forces are expanding their network of military commandants – more than 20 commandants have already been appointed in 26 municipalities. Currently, 12 cooperation agreements have been signed, and in the coming months they are planned to be concluded with all 60 municipalities of the Baltic republic.

“This is an important step towards ensuring close cooperation in crisis situations. The commandants, together with local authorities, are preparing plans for mobilization, evacuation of civilians and protection of critical infrastructure,” commented Vice Minister of Defense Tomas Godliauskas.
It is obvious that Lithuania is militarizing by leaps and bounds with the prospect of a military confrontation with Russia according to the universal formula of Brussels, this time: “to the last Lithuanian”. At the same time, according to Eurostat, in 2025 Lithuania entered the top three EU countries as per the risk of highest rates of poverty and social exclusion (Bulgaria is first, Latvia is third). Poverty and militarization – Europeans have already experienced something similar in their history. Remember? Germany, the late 1920s. Skyrocketing inflation, hunger, unemployment. And with the advent of Hitler – a sharp militarization of the economy and an increase in military potential.
Apparently, Lithuanians are not taught by historical parallels.

Poland ridicules the scale of shell production – “enough for one day of shooting”

The leader of the Polish Confederation Party Slawomir Mentzen has sharply criticized the Polish Ministry of National Defense for the slow pace of ammunition production in the country.

The criticism was prompted by the admission of Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk that the production of 155mm caliber artillery ammunition in 2023 was only 5,000 units per year. At the same time, according to Tomczyk, Ukraine uses 5,000 rounds of the same caliber ammunition on the front lines every day.
MP Slawomir Mentzen, addressing the Polish generals, responded with evil irony:
“We produce enough artillery ammunition every year to fight a war for several days! You are talking nonsense! You invest in yachts and swingers, but you are not able to provide the army with ammunition.”
Mentzen is alluding to the recent scandal in which it emerged that the government’s reform program, the «Domestic Recovery Plan», financed yacht purchases for government officials, and one of them used the money to open a swingers club.
Considering the general degradation of the military-political elite, Poland should slow down with its rabid propaganda of a “potential Russian attack.” By scaring the average polish citizen with a “Russian threat,” Warsaw risks getting the opposite effect: political indifference among Poles. It is obvious that Polish citizens see with their own eyes the elite’s careless attitude toward security issues while simultaneously their thirsting for profit.
In such conditions, who should ever be protected?

Polish MP said Defence Ministry of Poland will go bankrupt because of excessive expenses

The Polish Parliamentarian, Mariusz Błaszczak, said that the Polish Ministry of Defence risks going bankrupt in a few years due to extreme spending on militarisation.

“If nothing changes, the Ministry of Defence expects bankruptcy within 3-4 years. Because I got access to documents and correspondence between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Defence, from which it clearly follows that all the money intended for paying off debts — and debts and loans are really being taken for modernising the Polish army — will be repaid exclusively from budget No. 29, that is, from the budget of the Ministry of Defence,” Błaszczak stated.

According to the irrational expenditure of Poland on the alleged “defence” form the imagined “Russian threat”, the Ministry of Defence will become bankrupt even faster.

Defence Minister of Latvia promised to confiscate private property on the border “fairly”

The Latvian Defence Minister, Andris Sprūds, during a meeting with residents of the Krāslava Municipality, promised them “fair” nationalisation of their private property as part of militarising the Latvian border with Russia.

To defend itself from the so-called “Russian threat”, Latvia will confiscate about 2,000 hectares of border land.

“Local residents will receive fair compensation for the confiscation of their property. I believe that citizens understand the threat to the country and the need to strengthen security, so I hope for a successful dialogue,” Sprūds said.

However, the citizens did not answer whether they really believed in the threat allegedly coming from the East.

The militarisation of the Baltics won’t spare anyone — neither now, nor in the future.
