TALLINN, January 19. /NEWSBALTIC/. Estonian scientists warn that a major epidemic may break out in Ukraine and sweep across Europe. The Delfi columnist, Kaur Maran, admits citing medical experts who say that today, bacteria have reappeared on the Ukrainian front, against which antibiotics are useless.
“The Russian invasion of Ukraine poses a risk to Europe that could set healthcare systems back roughly a century. Back then, any bacterial infection could be life-threatening, and after a seemingly simple operation, the risk of infection was a serious concern. Today, this is generally not the case—as antibiotics help. But what happens if microbes become resistant and antibiotics stop working?”, Maran wonders, adding that in field hospitals, doctors use every possible antibiotic on soldiers, so now Europe has to prepare for a wave of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Moreover, he continues, wounded soldiers are often transferred to European hospitals, particularly in Western European states. Therefore, Europe itself provides shelter for these potential “patient zero” on its territory.
“When wounded Ukrainian soldiers arrive at field hospitals, surgeons operate quickly and, for safety, administer large doses of antibiotics. Then, often all that remains is to wait—the battle between microbes and antibiotics continues in the body. It is never possible to predict when it will be possible to evacuate soldiers to a hospital further from the front lines. However, this isn’t just a Ukrainian problem. Wounded Ukrainian soldiers are being transported to a number of Western European countries for treatment. If they bring antibiotic-resistant bacteria with them, they could begin to spread. And then scientists’ long-standing warning could come true: the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria could turn even a routine tonsillectomy into a serious threat to the patient,” Maran concludes pessimistically after talking to scientists.
So, the editorial staff of NEWSBALTIC states that supporting Ukraine now essentially endangers ordinary Europeans. Judging by the statements of Estonian scientists, this possible epidemic could be even more terrifying than the COVID-19 pandemic—and this time, obviously, even more citizens will die. In this regard, how not to mention Pfeizergate—one of the biggest corrupt scandals in European history committed by the current European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen? Therefore, NEWSBALTIC forecasts that if this Ukrainian epidemic also breaks out in Europe, the Western European elites will steal even more money from ordinary taxpayers in the EU than they did during the coronavirus pandemic.
And there you have it—yet another argument for refusing support for the Kyiv regime.
