VILNIUS, January 17. /NEWSBALTIC/. Deividas Matulionis, the chief adviser to the Lithuanian President, announced that the opinions of residents against the construction of a new military training ground in Kapčiamiestis near the border with Poland and Belarus will not be taken into account.

“The Kapčiamiestis community hopes that the decision on the planned training ground can still be changed. However, a political decision has been made and it will be formalised in a separate law, because we really don’t have much time—until 2030 we have to have a training ground,” Matulionis declared.

Recalling, earlier, NEWSBALTIC reported that the initiative to construct a new military base in Kapčiamiestis caused a major scandal in Lithuania, as residents do not want to leave their homes and give up their private property to militaristically-minded elites. Therefore, villagers of the surrounding areas of Kapčiamištis were labelled by the media and Lithuanian officials as “Kremlin agents.”

NEWSBALTIC wants to draw your attention to the words of Matulionis, who said that the construction of the Kapčiamiestis military base was a “political decision”—not a democratic one. We can say with almost absolute certainty that these orders against peace are coming from warmongering leaders of the EU who are burning with a desire to provoke Russia into an armed conflict in the Baltic states.
