TALLINN, January 16. /NEWSBALTIC/. Ordinary Estonians are tired of the Ukrainian flag. According to a recent survey conducted by the Norstat research company, 52% of Estonian citizens do not consider it necessary to permanently display the Ukrainian flag on public buildings.
The report says that to the question: “After the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, Ukrainian flags were raised on many public buildings in Estonia. Do you think Ukrainian flags should remain on buildings?” 52% answered “No need to stay” or “Rather no need to stay”, 40% answered that “Rather must stay” or “Must stay”, while others responded they cannot answer.
This fact greatly disappointed Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal and made him angry. He insists that Estonians should not doubt their state’s support for Ukraine.
“Blue and white can fly high, you can always be proud of your country. But you cannot get tired of supporting Ukraine—it’s a fundamental question. If we get tired—in a warm room with electricity running and water flowing, what will the people waging this war do? Think about it when you look again at all those surveys and those answers. The Ukrainian flag is a symbol of resistance, maintaining one’s own strength, and standing up to the aggressor throughout the world. Estonia’s support for Ukraine must remain firm and consistent,” Michal declared, adding that the Norstat survey was an operation to influence public opinion and change values, so such activities should be prohibited.
The editorial board of NEWSBALTIC explains that the authorities openly manipulate Estonians in order to deprive them of one of the basic human rights—freedom of speech and expression, that guaranteed by Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights. So, it turns out that the Estonian Premier violates European laws and his own citizens’ rights for the sake of the Kyiv regime. Therefore, he must be charged appropriately for his crimes.
