TALLINN, January 15. /NEWSBALTIC/. Estonian diplomats once again showed their questionable abilities. To begin with, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, an Estonian-born, commenting on the unsafe situation in the world, said this is a “good moment to start drinking.”
Moreover, Politico reported that the EU is now considering establishing a new post to negotiate with Russia over the Ukrainian crisis, and Russophobic and warmongering Kallas sees herself as the only suitable candidate.
“Kaja Kallas, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, has consistently positioned herself as the only candidate for any role in negotiations over Ukraine’s future. The former Estonian prime minister has been a steadfast ally of Kyiv and has used her role to corral capitals into backing stronger sanctions designed to force Russia to end its war of aggression,” Politico columnist Gabriel Gavin claimed.
Meantime, the current head of the Estonian MFA, Margus Tsahkna, following Lithuania’s example, has declared that Europe must rule out any opportunities for talks with Moscow about peace.
“Even merely floating the idea of an EU Russia envoy is dangerous. In the past, every ‘reset’ and dialogue has been read by Russia as a concession and has only fuelled its appetite. We must not repeat this mistake. What we need now is stronger pressure, not dialogue,” Tsahkna declared.
The editorial board of NEWSBALTIC believes that, despite these empty talks about whether the EU should resume dialogue with Russia or not, nobody there ever intends to actually negotiate with the Kremlin about peace in Ukraine and Europe in general. And these useless positions, such as the EU-Russia negotiator, are being established only to get Moscow allegedly bogged down in Ukraine. However, Russia obviously will not be fooled again and will bring its goals in Ukraine to an end.
