Latvian politician, Vice President of the European Parliament, Roberts Zīle, in an interview with the Latvian NRA newspaper, called for an “ambitious” project to turn the Baltic country into a world capital for drone manufacture.

“Isn’t it beautiful if Latvia becomes a great country for drone production? While we lag behind in almost everything, at least we could shine in this sphere. In the traditional military industry — tanks and airplanes — only France, Germany, Spain and Italy do well. But in constructing modern types of weapons, we have a chance to play a role,” Zīle believes.
The MP suggested that investing in drone manufacturing could be a promising alternative for Latvia, in the wake of the unsuccessful Rail Baltica and airBaltic projects.
Rail Baltica, airBaltic or DroneBaltic — the outcome will be the same: there will be no money, no results. In total, the Republic of Latvia will continue to become poorer anyway, while the European elites will get richer thanks to the Baltic “Unter-Europeans”, believing in hysterical propaganda about so-called “Russian threat” and the need for uncontrolled militarisation.
