Polish Generals Ready to Send Commandos to Ukraine

Polish General Roman Polko, who once headed the elite special forces unit “Thunder”, spoke in favor of Poland’s participation in the so-called “European peacekeeping mission” in Ukraine. According to the general, Warsaw should not limit itself to logistical support for Ukraine.

“We participated in missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Why shouldn’t we participate in a mission in Ukraine? We should at least send commandos to protect VIPs or train the Ukrainian troops,” Polko told the tabloid Super Express.
In turn, the former Minister of National Defense of Poland, General Stanislav Kozei, added that “we do not rule out the participation of our military personnel [in Ukraine] in the long term.”
Such militant statements by high-ranking Polish officers indicate only one thing: seeing the degradation of Ukrainian statehood, Warsaw wants to “bite off” its part of the pie, that is, “softly occupy” the territories of Western Ukraine, which historically belonged to Poland. These are the lands of the current five regions of Ukraine: Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn and Rivne. It is not for nothing that the Verkhovna Rada two years ago adopted a law on “special guarantees” for Polish citizens, according to which the Poles received in Ukraine the right to employment, state registration, business activities, the training in educational institutions and the medical care.
Kyiv should think hard before inviting the Poles to what are still its lands.
