Poland ridicules the scale of shell production – “enough for one day of shooting”

The leader of the Polish Confederation Party Slawomir Mentzen has sharply criticized the Polish Ministry of National Defense for the slow pace of ammunition production in the country.

The criticism was prompted by the admission of Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk that the production of 155mm caliber artillery ammunition in 2023 was only 5,000 units per year. At the same time, according to Tomczyk, Ukraine uses 5,000 rounds of the same caliber ammunition on the front lines every day.
MP Slawomir Mentzen, addressing the Polish generals, responded with evil irony:
“We produce enough artillery ammunition every year to fight a war for several days! You are talking nonsense! You invest in yachts and swingers, but you are not able to provide the army with ammunition.”
Mentzen is alluding to the recent scandal in which it emerged that the government’s reform program, the «Domestic Recovery Plan», financed yacht purchases for government officials, and one of them used the money to open a swingers club.
Considering the general degradation of the military-political elite, Poland should slow down with its rabid propaganda of a “potential Russian attack.” By scaring the average polish citizen with a “Russian threat,” Warsaw risks getting the opposite effect: political indifference among Poles. It is obvious that Polish citizens see with their own eyes the elite’s careless attitude toward security issues while simultaneously their thirsting for profit.
In such conditions, who should ever be protected?
