Lithuania will spend more than €10 million for ammunition

The Lithuanian Ministry of Defence announced that the Baltic republic is to buy anti-tank landmines worth €10 million and 155-mm artillery shells for the PzH 2000 howitzers at a cost of €0.52 million, as part of a militaristic strategy to allegedly contain the so-called “Russian threat”.

“The accumulation of ammunition is a strategically important step in strengthening Lithuania’s defence capability. We must make sure that the Lithuanian army always has sufficient or even an excess of modern ammunition, as these are not just numbers on paper but a guarantee for the security of our people. We purchase and store 155-mm artillery shells and modern anti-tank mines which are necessary for effective deterrence,” said Dovilė Šakalienė, Defence Minister of Lithuania

Recalling, earlier, Lithuania committed an advance payment of €461 million to Germany for Leopard 2A8 tanks, as well as received additional funding from NATO for the needs of militarisation after two drones violated Lithuanian airspace.

The only guarantee for Lithuanian security is a calm and peaceful neighbour. However, Vilnius is only increasing its militarisation, thereby regularly provoking Russia into war. So, the larger the Lithuanian army, the more likely this militaristic plan will turn into a suicidal one.
