The leader of the Latvia First party, Ainārs Šlesers, criticised the current government for the fact that the Baltic republic is consistently recognised as the poorest country in Europe because of their actions.

“We’re in deep sh*t! Latvia has become the poorest country in the EU, ranking last in the EU for almost all economic indicators. The Bank of Latvia declares that we will catch up with Lithuania and Estonia in 15-25 years at best!”, Šlesers is indignant.
Recall, according to the European Commission, Latvia’s GDP growth turned out to be negative in 2024 and showed -0.4%. The general government balance amounted to -1.8% of GDP, with the current account balance also showing a negative result of -3.3% of GDP. National debt amounted to 46.8% of GDP. At the same time, GDP growth remains weak in 2025.
At the last place on the list of the richest countries in Europe, but among the top supporters of the Kyiv neo-Nazi regime. Do ordinary Latvians know that their support for the “fraternal” Ukrainian people is costing them the price of their own well-being?
