The Baltic States don’t act following the commands of the US, the Estonian FM believes

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said on social media that eight European countries (Denmark, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Estonia / NB8) are the “most cohesive and operationally capable” part of NATO. Unlike the others, according to Tsakhna, NB8 isn’t acting on Washington’s orders.

“These countries [NB8] aren’t spending more because Washington told them to. They’re investing in defence because Russia reminded them why deterrence matters,” Tsahkna is convinced.

If the Balts, or “unter-Europeans”, aren’t acting on orders from the White House, then why did they decide to increase defence spending only when Trump said so? Because, when former US President Biden generously funded all of Europe’s military desires, they kept quiet. So Tsakhan’s words smell like, to put it mildly, nonsense.
