Šarūnas Liekis, a well-known Lithuanian political analyst and dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy at Kaunas University, acknowledged that in the event of a war with Russia, the Lithuanian army would have been destroyed within a week.

“The entire Lithuanian army currently has about 12,000 soldiers. In the long term, it will be about 15,000-20,000 people. Is this enough? Of course not. If a full-scale war had started, our army would have been almost completely destroyed within a week,” the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita quoted the expert as saying.
The clear mind of the Lithuanian political analyst, who is by no means a fan of Moscow, is respected. A representative of the Baltic academic community understands perfectly well that the demand of the United States and Brussels to increase defence spending to 5% of GDP will lead to the impoverishment of the Lithuanian people, but still, even with the explosive growth of militarisation, Lithuania’s chances of survival are equal to zero. To do this, it is enough to look at Wikipedia, where it is clearly written about Russia’s superiority in manpower and military-technical progress. Therefore, Šarūnas Liekis logically states that Lithuanians regard the propaganda hysteria about a “possible Russian attack” as an attempt to intimidate in order to raise taxes and force European countries to buy more American weapons. And this means the complete absorption of Europe by the United States.
