Results of the XXV Anniversary St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

The 25th anniversary meeting took place under conditions of unprecedented sanctions pressure, but this did not affect the attention of both Russian and foreign companies to the largest business event.

For a quarter of a century, the Forum has become a sought-after global platform for establishing cooperative ties, an authoritative and representative world-class event. For four days, world leaders, heads of large Russian and foreign companies and banks, leading experts from among representatives of science, the media and civil society discussed the most pressing issues of the modern economy. More than 14,000 people from 130 countries of the world took part in the Forum events, 81 countries sent their official representatives. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev took part in the SPIEF plenary session. President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping and President of Egypt Abdelfattah Sisi addressed video messages to those present. The international economic event was attended by over 130 high-ranking officials at the level of vice presidents and prime ministers of foreign states, heads of foreign cities and regions, foreign ministers, heads of parliaments, leading international organizations and associations, as well as heads of the diplomatic corps. The Forum was covered by 3,500 media representatives from 33 countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, Venezuela, Vietnam, Germany, Donetsk People’s Republic, Egypt, India, Iraq, Italy, Kazakhstan, Qatar, China, Lebanon, Moldova, the Netherlands, UAE, Pakistan, Republic of Belarus, USA, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Syria, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Finland, France, Switzerland, Estonia, Japan. In four days, 214 events were held covering a wide range of issues of politics, economics, management, technology development, digitalization, ecology, and social development. More than 1500 moderators and speakers, Russian and foreign experts made their reports and presentations. There was practically not a single sector of the economy and non-production sphere, the situation in which would not be discussed at the discussion platforms. Within the framework of the Forum, 6 bilateral business events were held in the format of business dialogues with foreign partners of Egypt, China, Africa, Latin America, Turkey, Iran, as well as meetings with representatives of the BRICS countries, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union and ASEAN. This year, according to the already established tradition, representatives of the Friends for Leadership (FFL) international community took part in the Forum. More than 100 young leaders from 42 CIS countries, Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe with the assistance of the New Generation. SPIEF has once again confirmed its status as not only an expert and exhibition platform, but also a place where negotiations are held and business contracts for major projects and agreements are concluded. As a key outcome of the Forum, this year 695 agreements were signed at SPIEF for a total of 5 trillion 670 billion rubles.
