Another check for Russia or a new chance

From March 2 to March 12, 2019 the World Student Games – XXIX World Winter Universiade will be held in Krasnoyarsk. In the heart of Siberia, 76 sets of awards will be played out in 11 sports: biathlon, alpine skiing, curling, skiing, snowboarding, orienteering, skiing, figure skating, freestyle, hockey, hockey, short track.

Recall that the decision to hold the Universiade in Krasnoyarsk was made by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in Brussels back in 2013.
Almost 6 years ago, the geopolitical picture of the world did not yet include Donald Trump, the conflict in Ukraine, the war in Syria, and the sanctions regime against Russia. Would give Russia the 2019 Universiade, know the organizing committee about everything that happens in the coming years or not – a big question. However, the Universiade 2019 in Russia will take place, as the World Football Championship took place in the summer of 2018. By the way, the last World Cup was recognized as the best in history and rightfully remained in the hearts of all football fans from around the world.
As for the Universiade, from the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 it became clear that for Russia the success of any sporting events is a matter of honor and an opportunity to show the world its development, its level of organization and, most importantly, hospitality. Both in Sochi 2014 and during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, all guests of the tournaments noted the hospitality of the host country, revenue and good attitude.
The Universiade, as an event also youth, not related to politics, is doomed to success. Young boys and girls from all over the world will try to see Russia with their own eyes and form their own view of the country.
As for security, all the events held in Russia were distinguished by exceptional security and organization. According to experts, any organizational error or force majeure, especially related to the safety of participants and guests of the Universiade, will cost Russia enormous reputational losses. Moscow is aware of this, so the work in the field of security is colossal. In the present conditions of confrontation between the West and the East, every such event is worth its weight in gold, as presidents come and go, conflicts end, and ordinary young people seek friendship, love, exchange of experience and constructive relations.
